The environment also has a special influence on sleep. As the old saying goes, “You made your bed, now sleep in it”, there is some truth in these words. For example, mattresses influence sleep. It is not without reason that numerous companies advertise their mattresses with sleep-promoting properties. But room temperature also plays a role. And fresh air should also be available in the bedroom, yet the body should not be exposed to draughts. In colour therapy, gaudy colours such as red or orange are not recommended as wall colours for bedrooms. Preference should rather be given to calming shades such as blue and green or neutral colours such as white.

Furthermore, there are many different opinions about pillows and the range of pillows is huge. Some recommend neck-supporting pillows, others particularly supple pillows that adapt best to the contours of the body, and still others recommend orthopaedic memory pillows that adapt to the shape of the sleeper and also remember it.
But there are also recommendations to do without pillows altogether. I have tried it out and have to say that it takes a lot of getting used to. After years of sleeping with a feather pillow, something was missing. However, after 3 days this was over and I have to say that when I wake up in the morning, my joints are more relaxed. Maybe you should try it out and write what changed for you. But as I said, sleep is individual and everyone has to find out what works best for them. Doing without a pillow costs nothing, in contrast to some loudly advertised special pillows that certainly have special properties that help some people sleep better.
